We are very excited to announce that our very own Brooke Wells was drafted in the 1st round of the 2015 National Pro Grid League Draft to the Miami Surge on Tuesday!

Brooke was invited to the Miami Surge Pro-Day last fall, and since then has kept in contact with Surge Coach, Doug Chapman. As we all know, Brooke is an amazing athlete with incredible potential and it seems the Surge thought so too.

“The first trade of the draft came with the fourth pick as the Miami Surge worked a deal with the New York Rhinos. The Surge were slotted sixth and traded New York for it’s fourth pick in exchange for picks in later rounds.

Miami had their sights set squarely on 19-year-old Brook Wells, and they knew that New York was positioned to take her if the Surge did not act. As a result of the trade, Miami gave up a third-round slot to New York and was able to nab Wells, a strong athletes who can not only move heavy weight, is highly coachable. They were ecstatic.

“She is really strong and she’s also got a great engine, but more than that, she’s a great person,” said Miami Team Operator Mather Wiswall. “We connected with her right away.”- NPGL Teams Pumped with 2015 Draft Picks

While her main role will be on the barbell, Wells also can do a lot of other things such as rapid-fire handstand push-ups and body-weight elements, making her a threat from the start line to the finish line.”

Brooke currently sits 6th going into the CrossFit Games Central Regional. It seems only fitting that she would excel in various areas of competitive functional fitness. She plans to continue school and coaching here in Columbia, Missouri, but keep an eye out for Grid Matches coming up this August and September.
